‘The Marlin Highway’

The highly prized Blue Marlin makes its home in Vanuatu along a canyon the locals refer to as ‘The Marlin Highway’. And it’s easy to see why; hundreds of miles long, this route is not only renowned for abundant Blue Marlin fishing, but calm ocean conditions. This combination makes catching this rare ocean legend very achievable. There has been several world record catches of Blue Marlin in Vanuatu – the next record could be your catch!

 

Blue Marlins give a remarkable fight when hooked and are sought by sport fishers the world over. They are known to live up to 27 years, reach 14 feet (4.3m) in length and weigh up to 1985 pounds (900kg). Females are significantly larger than males, which makes the average size range of 11 feet (3.4m) and 200 pounds (91kg) to 400 pounds (181kg).

 

Other billfish you can target in Vanuatu are Sailfish, Black Marlin and Striped Marlin. No matter what your species preference, you are guaranteed an exceptional day’s fishing.
